In May 2011, Sharp Corporation introduced into the Japanese market the AQUOS PHONE, a smartphone that gives users more enjoyment thanks to a high-quality graphics engine and the ability to link with AQUOS LCD TVs. In addition, Sharp is using its proprietary technology to differentiate itself in the smartphone market and create a ‘global smartphone’ that will also be available in China.
The AQUOS PHONE with high-quality graphics engine is a new brand of Sharp smartphone that offers new forms of enjoyment through connectivity to AV equipment and wireless networks. By connecting the AQUOS PHONE to an AQUOS LCD TV via HDMI, users can enjoy videos and games stored on their phone, as well as Internet HD videos and other content, on the large screen of an AQUOS LCD TV. And with the expected proliferation of equipment certified for the DLNA® (Digital Living Network Alliance) home network standard, users will be able to, for example, watch content from AQUOS TVs or Blu-ray Disc recorders wirelessly on their AQUOS PHONE.
Another feature of the AQUOS PHONE is a high-quality graphics engine incorporating the image-reproducing know-how Sharp has built up through its AQUOS LCD TVs. This engine utilizes image sharpening technology, which gives extremely naturally renderings of the borders and contours of images, and color adjustment technology, which adjusts color intensity and brightness, to give users high-quality images of mobile device broadcasts, Internet videos, and content from AV equipment over DLNA networks.
Note: | DLNA®, the DLNA logo, and DLNA Certified™ are trademarks or registered trademarks of the Digital Living Network Alliance. DLNA is a standard for connecting AV equipment and information appliances that are interoperable with each other over LANs and home networks. |
